I wanted to get an insight into the chosen categories I was going to include within my publication. As Jane Aldridge categorises her blog, it was pretty easy to find my way around in terms of labelling and finding images. Although Jane's photographs are always so full of colour, she does have a particular style, and this can be seen throughout every subject area. There is great variety on her blog, which will hopefully allow me to produce an interesting array of pages.
In order to get the most out of her blog, I will spend time scouring the different labels and categories so that I find the images that I want to work with. I want to really express Jane's style and personality through my publication and therefore will select images that I feel best represent her as a fashion blogger.
Chosen categories
1. Outfits
Jane's style is very eclectic. She often mixes vintage with designer, and casual with dressy. Her main focal point is always her shoes, however, these do not deter away from some of the wonderful pieces of clothing she wears.
You will often find that Jane doesn't follow one particular style. She constantly chooses to mix things up, experimenting with accessories and jewellery.
2. Shoes
Evidently, shoes are a main feature within Jane's blog. She is a magpie when it comes to shoes, and she has every single style possible within her closet, a pair to go with every outfit. I really want to pin-point Jane's love for footwear, however I don't want this to deter away from all of the other interesting and unique features included in the blog.
3. Dogs
One of Jane's main love's is her dogs. They feature frequently on her blog, and I feel that they are a great indication to making people realise that she is just a normal person behind the tonnes of expensive clothes and shoes. Personal factors like this really inspire, creating a connection between reader and subject. People relate more to these sort of things.
4. Inspiration
Sea of Shoes wouldn't be Sea of Shoes without it's own source of inspiration. Whilst inspiring others, Jane is evidently inspired herself. She obviously has a wide ranging knowledge of icons, models and stars that inspire her both when it comes to appearance and everyday life. She is obviously well-educated within the fashion world and knows what she is talking about. Inspiration comes from anyone and anything, and it's nice to see the type of things that she is looking at that are influencing her everyday decisions.
5. Decor
It is not just Jane's closet that is beautiful, but her home as well. The space in which you live in has a great affect on a person, particularly when it comes to working. Your working environment can motivate and inspire, it reflects your interests and personality and allows you to release your thoughts and ideas.
6. Travel
Travel can influence your day to day life. It opens up new experiences and can be a real eye-opener. Travelling evidently affects both Jane's style and other categories, such as home decor. It offers opportunities to see different culture, and pick up items and objects that you wouldn't necessarily find in your current location.
7. Music
Jane evidently enjoys a vast array of music, and you can tell that she is extremely passionate about it.
8. Beauty
9. Shopping list
One of the main reasons people visit blogs is to find pieces that they would want to buy for themselves. You would often visit your favourite blog in order to find a particular item that you were in need of, and as it is featured on a credible blog, then people are more influence to buy. It is nice to get inspiration and an idea of what is currently "in" and also just to see what is available in shops and online and sometimes is can be an endless task doing it yourself.
10. Iconic faces
