I came across Sophie Blackall's illustration whilst researching The Wind and the Willows. Evidently, she has done some work on the book itself, however, I was also extremely impressed by the rest of her designs. She uses a similar style to the original drawings I researched into, however they appear much more modern and up-to-date. The use of watercolour allows the atmosphere of the painting come to life, and I feel it really reflects the mood and content of her drawings. Although I am no good at watercolour, I may experiment with a similar style using opacities and my tablet.
