I found it really weird that I'd previously looked into the work of Nikki Farquharson before starting the Proverbally Yours project, after coming across her on www.booooooom.com. For the 'What is Graphic Design?' task, when it came to the different functions section, I had picked out Nikki Farquharson's 65 Modern Proverbs, writing
"Not only has this piece of designed been produced as a form of entertainment, Nikki Farquharson states that the idea was to 'capture the zeitgeist of today's modern Western mentality by revising archaic phrases'. It is a playful yet cynical response to popular proverbs of the world."
The aim here was to update some old proverbs.
Simplistic design is something that really grabs my attention. Really gritty, black and white always works extremely well. All of my favourite magazines hold this type of style.
